DAMMMNN DANIEL!

“DAMMMNN DANIEL! Back At It Again With The White Vans”

Every so often, a new Vine appears on our social media newsfeed; whether it be on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, it will always find its way. In February, one video compilation that stirred everyone positively, and negatively, was “DAMMMNN DANIEL!” Several social networking users didn’t find this six seconds of fame for this kid “Daniel” to be funny.

During the month February, I collected all of the DAMMMNN DANIEL remixes created by Jersey Club producers, for this moment solely. Here’s to every brave audio engineer who decided to make something out of the kid Daniel, and let’s not forget his friend, Josh, who is hyping him up for wearing white Vans.

If you feel that we are missing some of the best remixes and club edits of this eminent meme, please let us know in the comment section.

KUSH THE GREAT – DIGITAL ROMANCE THRD001

Starting from feelings of alienation on “These Days” and onto the joyous discovery of “Online Dating” from the safety of his own laptop screen, the highs and lows come colored with clever wordplay and ingenious sampling. “Narcoticos” employs one such sample of a Latin music classic then segways into a Jersey club influenced “All Out,” both songs commenting on the marijuana culture of young millennials. “Timewitit” is somewhat of a three movement intermission piece that playfully shifts styles in each segment. By the end of the project the listener finds the artist exploring full digital territory through the uses of 8 bit synths and vocoders, signaling his rejection of the feelings of love and romance. Although ending on a seemingly low note, there’s surprises in store at the end that shine a beam of hope on the narrative. (Thread Imprint, New Jersey)

Thread Imprint, the brand new record label from New Jersey natives Nadus and Gonzalo Silva, dropped their first official release on Valentine’s Day.

Although the name thread has been synonymous with jersey club, both Nadus and Gonzalo Silva –formally known as DJ Reck– have managed to duck the stigma of the club producer with diverse sounds in the realms of footwork, house and dem bow infused music.

It’s clear that they’re on a mission to prove that the sound of jersey club is not entirely defined by the prevalent triplet kicks and bed squeaks; which makes this first release their fledgling imprint by sticking to that agenda and making total sense, while being unexpected at the same time.

For those expecting a jersey club record, or a club record in general, this is not either. Kush The Great’s stunningly intimate and deeply personal love letter, Digital Romance is something different altogether. It feels more like Odd Future than Brick Bandits.

Mostly produced by Kush The Great himself — with additional production from Bowtye, Starfucker, Tizhimself, Diversa and Ezrakh — this insular and personal LP is a true headphone masterpiece, dripping with the loneliness of nights spent with a glowing screen and keyboard. The album flows together with a thoughtful cohesiveness. The sounds of dial tones and humming modems remind us that this is as closely related to a love letter to the internet, as it is to any girl. A few notable tracks include Digislut, Timewitit and iHatelove. This is a true and relatable soundtrack for those of us yearning for love “IRL” and spending long nights “URL,” finding traces of connection in the vast loneliness.

REVIEW: JERSEY CLUB 101 J HEAT RELEASE WITH CLUBJERSEY

“This release is a capsule of a selected favourites I’ve made over the years. I really wanted to put out a project featuring the many remixes I’ve made and really showcase the different flavors of Jersey Club music.” These were the exact words said by DJ J Heat in an interview to Dan Fisher, which was featured in Vice’s Thump, on his release with CLUBJERSEY and its new collection series, Jersey Club 101.

It’s pretty straightforward to understand the aesthetic DJ J Heat was going for when picking and choosing the tracks for this collaborative effort. In fact you can narrow it down to two key ideas. 1) Educate those who are not aware of the thought process when producing a Jersey Club song, and 2) give a little something to “people who love and respect the culture.”

The release consists of 12 tracks with remixes of songs like Big Sean’s Blessings and Drake’s Back 2 Back Freestyle which can be easily dated back to mid 2015. After intently listening to the full the track list, I noted my top five favorites, that others can attest to.

Moments in Love, a three minute remix of the song created by Art of Noise, which was released in 1984. I believe that it did the original song justice by keeping its subtlety, while at the same time, providing you with those common bed-squeaks and claps you tend to hear in club edits.

When it came to Big Sean’s Blessings, J Heat remains constant with the theme, Jersey Club 101. In other words, if I were to give a Jersey Club lesson to someone and show them the elements that go into a club track, I would play this song. His choice in vocal sampling compliments the original song and it’s agenda to inform others of his success. I’m way up, I feel blessed!

B2B starts to pick up the pace, leaving you with the urge to do a little footwork. Am I right? This remix on Drake’s diss track was in fact, A-1.

After listening to his remix of Jhene Aiko’s The Worst, the first thing that came to mind — something for the ladies! You can correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s what I perceived of this track. It gives off this soft tone and a steady paced melody.

One collaborative track that spoke out to me was Faded, a future house song by ZHU. This collab track between J Heat and Lido was satisfying to the ear. It was very smooth and left me with the thought of togetherness.

Each of DJ J Heat’s tracks on CLUBJERSEY’s series, Jersey Club 101, follows this criteria to inform the public of club music and it’s quality through production, J Heat’s particular style technique and collaborative effort.

The quality of remixes from J Heat are a testament to his production skills, and as such he has collaborated with a number of other talented producers; Mike Q, Lido, Brenmar are just some of the quality artists J Heat has worked with, and all three feature on this release. All the tracks have a distinct style which can be attributed as J Heats production style and as such has caught the ear of London Label Night Slugs, who are preparing for a release with J Heat.

DJ K-DEUCEZ – “THE CALM”

K-Deucez has built a name for himself over the last few years by releasing solid remixes, putting out dope mixes and guest mixes, and by being one of the better DJ’s on the DJ circuit. Although he recently lost his Soundcloud account, support for his latest mixtape “The Calm” amongst his peers and fans has been strong, reaching 500 downloads in the first day the mixtape was released.

We caught up with “Kaeman” K-Deucez as we asked him a few questions about the release and what exactly happened to his Soundcloud.

What happened to your old Soundcloud account?
My first Soundcloud got deleted because of copyright infringement. I had my account at 2 million plays & 7k followers which was difficult to lose.

Why did you decide to put this mixtape out?
Honestly, I put this mixtape out to build anticipation for when i drop my first official EP in January. This will be the last remix project I will be releasing for a while.

Why did you call it “The Calm”?
The name “The Calm” comes from the term “The Calm Before The Storm”. It’s a hint that people need to be ready for what i’m dropping early 2015, which by the way, will NOT be called “The Storm”..

Any theme behind the songs you picked?
I wanted to keep the mood very mellow and easy to listen to. I rarely listened to other club producers, which means I don’t need to draw from them for inspiration. For these remixes I drew from other influences, but it’s also why my sound is my own, the remixes on the mixtape were purely from the mind of K-Deucez.

What have you got planned next?
Up next from me is my Extended Play project which I will be dropping early 2016. I’ve been putting all of my musical efforts into this EP, and hopefully I can show the world a glimmer as to what is in store for the future. I don’t have a name for it yet, maybe I will call it “The Storm” after all!

NATALIE LA ROSE – SOMEBODY (DJ LIL TAJ FEAT. DJ 809 & OPERA)

Following on from DJ Big K’s Remix of the Natalie La Rose track “Somebody”, DJ Lil Taj has linked up with CLUBJERSEY’s “DJ 809” & Empire member “Opera” to deliver a remix of the same track.

Although there are some noticeable similarity’s between both tracks; for example some of the chops bear a passing resemblance, the Empire x CLUBJERSEY producers produce a track with a better polish, and ultimately the better version as DJ Big K’s remix is only 1:37 long.

Both are up for Free Download and we suggest you snatch em both. Which track do you think is better? Hit us up on Twitter.
